Girlie Action
Rob Carmichael – 2011

Launch Website

Founded in 1994 by Felice Ecker and Vickie Starr, Girlie Action Media, Marketing & Management, Inc. is one of the leading boutique media relations and marketing firms in the U.S. specializing in music and pop culture. We represent some of the most innovative yet popular artists working in music today, and have long-standing and trusted relationships with the entertainment media and the cultural programmers and gatekeepers nationwide, making us one of the most sought-after PR agencies in America for introducing new artists and entertainment-driven products and events.

Girlie Action is well known for our passion for music, and for spotting (and signing!) tomorrow's hot new stars as they are just beginning to emerge. Beyond our dedication and commitment to our clients, our core philosophy has always been to deliver straight-forward, results-driven PR and marketing campaigns while continuing to embrace new technologies and marketing strategies as the entertainment industry continues to evolve.

Over the past fifteen years, Girlie Action has developed a reputation for representing some of the most iconic artists working in music. Specializing in "cross-over" marketing, we "broke" such influential artists as Santigold, My Morning Jacket, Antony and the Johnsons, Hercules and Love Affair, Elliott Smith, James Murphy (and DFA Records), The White Stripes, No Doubt, Danger Mouse, The Scissor Sisters, Peaches, Gorillaz, and hundreds of other artists.

In the late 90s, Girlie Action was also at the epicenter of the digital music revolution, representing Napster, Emusic, Digital Club Network and several other leading digital music companies during the halcyon days of the dot-com boom. Since then, we have orchestrated numerous PR and marketing campaigns for product launches, fashion lines, films, books, and non-profit organizations, offering culturally relevant branding to a wide variety of brands including Microsoft, Motorola, Puma, Absolut, Ray-Ban, Lollapalooza, Amnesty International, Move On, Music For America, Diesel, Technics, M3, Napster (version 1.0, the original ground-breaking file-sharing service) and the Willie Mae Rock Camp For Girls.
