If your site unexpectedly is down today (or in the next few days) and is giving you an error saying you can't connect to the database but you're using a password then you probably have MediaTemple as a host. (mt) is rolling out a security update that wipes your database passwords if you didn't update the last few weeks. They sent everyone an email (as if you read those) so it's not technically their fault... but if you need help resolving this... contact Ben Haynes.

In an attempt to stay ahead of the curve I am learning Objective-C which is the language for Mac OSX (applications, widgets etc.) and for iPhone/iTouch/iPad Apps. Learning is expedited since I already know how object-oriented programming works and know some C++.

This means that CBH will soon be able to offer custom iPhone App programming.

Redesign the CBH logo... it's as simple as that.

If your design is chosen you will get a whopping $100. The design requirements are that it must communicate both 'CBH' and 'I ♥ U'. There is no time limit, this is an ongoing contest; as I get submissions if any are amazing they will become the official CBH logo, you will get full credit and $100. Any designs (winning or non-winning) sent in may be shown on the CBH logo page alongside your name/firm. Boo yah.

Send designs to benh@ynes.org.

This time a copy of P.P. was found on the book shelf of Lindsey Joy Voskowsky of Yale University Press. It's sleek, sexy spine amidst some other wonderful books... if you come across Paper Pilot somewhere, be sure to capture it with your camera and send it forthright.

Here is the actual project page for my book.

I was just sent a mobile pic from a friend showing Paper Pilot in the San Fransisco MoMA Design Store. If anyone else spots P.P. snap a quick shot of it and send it my way. Boo yah.

After seemingly endless legal issues and lawsuits TPB was finally shut down by their ISP's ISP. I was saddened yesterday when I went to ThePirateBay.org to see what was new and discovered it was down. Since this has happened many times before I knew the drill... I googled to see when the most recent raid was or who had won this weeks lawsuit against the torrent magnate. And per usual all the results said TPB was down... this time for good.

There was a glimmer of hope though... TPB being the forward thinking group they are had replicated itself on it's own site in the final hours. In other words, the entire TPB website with nearly all it's functionality and torrents was zipped up and made downloadable as a torrent itself. Oh the wondrous recursiveness of it all!

What does all this mean? Welp, it means that TPB knows this is all bigger than themselves... and supplied the internets with the ability for anyone to download and setup their very own Bay.

Having said all that, The Pirate Bay was only shut down for ~3 hours. As many TPB users delete their accounts in fear of the MAFIAA lawsuits... I proudly will stay registered until the bitter end.

Just found out that MoMA: Home Delivery site that I worked on was selected for the AIGA 365 Annual. After careful and considered review of more than 3,800 entries, the jury of “365: AIGA Annual Design Competitions 30” selected a group of 182 examples of outstanding design produced in 2008.

The jury’s selections will be mounted as a public exhibition in September 2009 at the AIGA National Design Center in New York and will travel across the country to AIGA chapters and student groups during 2010. In addition, selections become part of the AIGA Design Archives, are documented in 365: AIGA Year In Design, and the physical artifacts join the AIGA Design Archives at the Denver Art Museum.

Well well well. After a long time of the same boring site, CBH proudly launches a new site that far surpasses that of yesteryear. We've got tweets, and blogs and social networking links... boo-yah, this thing is hot. And we also have a new logo!

I just christened the launch with a bottle of champagne... the bubbly dripped down in my CPUs gulliver and shorted it out. Anywho, this version is happier than its predecessor and more elegant than the first version.

I hope you like it.

Ho! Gone away on the 18th, 19th and 20th of April I'll be. I shan't be available on the 19th betwixt... but will have telephony the other two.

Don't worry... it's going to be okay.
